Saint Peter, Minnesota

The renovation of this 1876 historic building on the campus of Gustavus Adolphus College was intended to preserve both the historic heritage of the building and its proud image of elegance within the campus community. Within that framework, the contemporary goals were to create more functional classroom and office space and to bring the structure into compliance with current codes and campus standards. The blending of historic context with contemporary function was realized and enhanced by the design aesthetic of the project.

The interior was fully reconfigured with new finishes, mechanical systems including audiovisual upgrades, an elevator, and two new stairways. The east entry was restored, and a new on-grade accessible entry was created on the campus mall.
